Dr. Hanson earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at Akron General Hospital and his orthopaedic surgery residency at Akron City Hospital in Ohio. An advanced Foot and Ankle Fellowship followed at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

Dr. Hanson joined Helena Orthopaedic Clinic in 2003, after completing his fellowship training. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is affiliated with St. Peter’s Hospital and Helena SurgiCenter, both in Helena. Dr. Hanson has conducted research on issues relating to arthroscopic surgery, one of his areas of specialization.
