Back pain finds its way to more and more of our population each year and can vary from nagging backache to severe incapacitating pain. Helena Orthopedic Clinic is committed to providing the highest quality care and compassion to our patients. Our experienced healthcare professionals are dedicated to treating our patients as an individual, deserving of our time, attention, and respect. Our providers will tailor your experience to address your specific spine needs. We provide collaborative care with other healthcare professionals specializing in spine care and treatments.

Our spine team will perform a thorough evaluation, reviewing the patient's history, examination, and diagnostic imaging studies to determine the appropriate conservative measures. We are able to offer a wide range of non-surgical treatments that are done here at Helena Orthopedic Clinic.

To continue providing superior care to the Helena community we have established a State-of-the-Art procedure suite to perform image guided interventions, such as spine and hip injections. This allows us to have more availability to get patients in as soon as possible. Also, reducing costs to patients and insurance companies by avoiding outside facility fees.

Shoulder

Shoulder pain can be debilitating. It can keep you up at night and make it difficult for you to perform simple daily tasks.

Arthritis, injury, and repetitive motions such as those used during sports or work-related activities, are the leading causes of shoulder pain, stiffness, and restricted movement.

Our surgeons are fellowship-trained and are able to treat a wide variety of shoulder conditions. Once we determine the source of your shoulder pain, we can create a treatment plan suited to your unique needs.

The HOC team is skilled at determining whether your shoulder condition would benefit from surgery or non-surgical treatment.

Hand & Wrist

The hand and wrist are made up of an extremely complex structure of joints, bones, and muscles and are engaged almost constantly in daily life. Our Fellowship trained team uses a conservative approach to treat hand and wrist conditions like Dupuytren's contracture, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, nerve injuries, and complex hand and wrist fractures.

Our goal is to restore optimal function and eliminate or reduce pain. Not everyone requires surgery, and non-operative treatments offer additional options for patients such as injections or physical therapy.

Elbow

The elbow is a hinge joint that connects the upper arm's humerus bone to the radius and ulna bones of the lower arm. The ligaments and joints work in tandem with these bones and your muscles to provide your arm the ability to bend and your hands to turn.

The elbow joint can withstand a lot of stress, but it is a common area for injuries, affecting people of all ages and lifestyles. The most common cause of elbow pain is overuse, which can occur during sports, hobbies, or jobs. Tendonitis, bursitis, arthritis, fractures, dislocations, and nerve irritations caused by accident, can also cause elbow pain.

A proper diagnosis and treatment from one of our orthopedic providers will help you back to what you love doing. HOC provides comprehensive care for elbow injuries using the latest advances in elbow diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation.

Whether you’re looking to get back to playing tennis or simply carry a gallon of milk without pain, we can help you reach your goals.

Hip

The hip plays an integral role in the function of walking, sitting, standing, and bending. It is one of the largest weight-bearing joints in the body. This ball-and-socket joint allows the leg to move and rotate while keeping the body stable and balanced. Hip pain can be the result of a condition that has developed over time and with overuse, such as bursitis and arthritis, or of a recent hip injury, such as a hip fracture or hip dislocation.

In some cases, and if not detected early, conditions such as hip bursitis and hip arthritis may create extreme bone and joint discomfort, making procedures like hip replacement surgery an option for relieving your hip pain. Our goal is to explain to patients every available treatment option and then customize a treatment plan specific to the patient’s needs.

Factors we consider include the injury, activity goals, job requirements, and recovery timeline. If conservative treatment options are not effective, we may offer patients the latest advancements in hip surgery, including the anterior total hip approach.

Knee

The knee joint joins the thigh to the lower leg. It is one of the largest joints in the body comprised of bones and other important structures such as tendons, ligaments, and cartilage that work together to allow the knee to move and bend smoothly.

Knee pain can be debilitating, affecting your ability to do everyday activities. Knee pain can be caused by overuse, traumatic injury, or a degenerative condition, such as arthritis.

Our specialty-trained knee doctors at HOC are recognized leaders in the diagnosis and treatment of knee injuries and conditions. Offering each patient individual attention, our board-certified knee surgeons are able to offer a thorough diagnostic evaluation and a variety of effective treatment options – from minimally invasive techniques and modalities to advanced knee surgery.

Foot & Ankle

As the foundation for your lower body’s movement, the foot and its numerous bones, ligaments, tendons, and muscles can be a source of significant joint pain. Often associated with inappropriate footwear or poor alignment, pain in the foot is most commonly associated with trauma, such as a fracture, disease, such as osteoarthritis, deformities, such as a bunion, or stress injuries.

The patient is the most important piece of our program. Having a foot or ankle injury, disability or deformity is stressful, and we strive to communicate to our patients how much we want them to get better. Patients are educated on their diagnosis and treatment options so they can make informed decisions together with their provider.

Sports Medicine

We understand athletes. We also understand that sports medicine is not exclusive to athletes alone. HOC takes an integrative approach to sports medicine care, treating high school and college athletes as well as those who maintain a physically active lifestyle. Sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations are just a few of the painful injuries that can occur when engaging in sports or recreational activities. Knees, shoulders, ankles, and wrists must absorb incredible amounts of energy to keep the body balanced and at peak performance.

We offer a wide range of treatment options, from non-operative care and in-office procedures for minor conditions and fractures to the latest surgical procedures for more complex sports-related injuries and disorders. After an examination with one of our sports medicine physicians, we’ll be able to determine whether nonsurgical treatment options such as physical therapy, joint and bursa injections, or platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy will effectively relieve your symptoms.

When surgery is necessary, our patients can take comfort in knowing that we provide the latest, state-of-the-art procedures, which allow us to deliver better outcomes and, in some cases, faster recovery times. While we always seek the latest advances in our field, we never lose sight of our mission – ensuring athletes of all skill levels are healthy and performing at their very best.

Joint Replacement

Our team of specialized orthopedic doctors offers a complete range of joint replacement surgical care. We can work with you from the start of your joint pain or if you have already tried other treatment options.

If you have exhausted the nonsurgical treatment options, a joint replacement specialist can help you decide the best surgical options.

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine relies on the body's ability to heal itself with the goal of replacing and restoring human cells, tissue, or organs.

Some therapies are approved by the FDA, others are not. These therapies continue to be researched to treat injuries and conditions, such as:

  • Tendon Injuries
  • Arthritis + Cartilage Injuries
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Muscle Strains
  • Ligament Strains
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Facet Joint Arthritis

Is this right for me?

Regenerative Medicine does not work for everyone. For some, it is the very last therapy tried. Your health care provider can help you determine what is right for you.

  • These therapies are not approved by the FDA. Researchers are studying regenerative medicine to determine whether these procedures can help with pain and healing.
  • These procedures are not covered by insurance and require an out-of-pocket expense.
